ROLE OVERVIEW

Your role will be to become actively involved in the team of lawyers working in the firm's privacy and cybersecurity practice, as well as to advise our insurer clients and their policyholders from a variety of industry sectors.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Advise insurers about cyber-risk claims;
  • Advise insurers and their policyholders on legal and operational issues affecting information technology, electronic commerce and privacy;
  • Advise on best business practices, conducting audits, certifications or assessments of privacy factors;
  • Offer support and advice in situations of security incident management and data breaches;
  • Work with clients to mitigate risks through improved privacy procedures, training and communications;
  • Lead and manage complex team issues with Clyde & Co associates and lawyers as well as with clients;
  • Work closely with the experts to prepare and expose the position of the clients;
  • Understand and synthesize complex issues, both legal, factual and technical;
  • Write notices, incident reports and other requests from various stakeholders;
  • Ensure a prompt response by Clyde & Co in the event of an incident involving cybersecurity and the security of personal information;
  • Put in place, if necessary, an intervention program in order to be efficient and effective during crises;
  • Possibly, or if necessary, as a specialized cybersecurity lawyer, a mediating role in the resolution of information technology disputes;
  • Anticipate, analyze and assess IT risks for clients as needed;
  • Carry out other responsibilities related to this role or following the emergence of new priorities .


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Law from a recognized university;
  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec and the Barreau de l'Ontario;
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including cyber insurance, privacy, privacy and cybersecurity;
  • Exceptional skills in legal drafting and communication, especially in English, since most files are received in this language;
  • Excellent analytical and synthesis skills
  • Judgment safe and high-caliber legal reasoning;
  • Integrity, rigor and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated skills in strategy development;
  • Seasoned sense of interpersonal relationships;
  • Ability to build trust with clients and other external partners, as well as associates, other lawyers and firm staff at all levels;
  • Team spirit and collaboration;
  • Bilingualism, oral and written, in French and English.

 



OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advise insurers regarding cyber-risk claims;
  • Advise insurers and their insurances regarding the legal and operational issues affecting information technology, e-commerce and privacy protection;
  • Offer advice on best business practices through audits, certifications or assessments of factors related to privacy;
  • Provide support and advice in responding to security incidents and data breaches;
  • Work with clients to reduce risks by improving procedures, training and communication related to the protection of personal information;
  • Clyde & Co partner (s) and lawyer (s), as well as clients;
  • Work with experts to prepare and present customers' positions;
  • Understand and summarize complex issues in legal as well as factual and technical matters;
  • Draft opinions, incident reports and other requests for various stakeholders;
  • Make sure the Clyde & Co firm responds rapidly to the event of an incident involving cybersecurity or personal data security;
  • If necessary, implement an intervention program in order to be efficient and effective in crisis situations;
  • As a lawyer specializing in cybersecurity, a possible act as a mediator in the resolution of information technology disputes;
  • Anticipate, analyze and evaluate information technology risks for clients as needed;
  • Fulfill other matters related to this role or the result of the emergence of new priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Degree in law from a recognized university;
  • Member in good standing of the '' Barreau du Québec '' and of the Ontario Bar;
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience, namely in cyber insurance, protection of privacy information, privacy and cybersecurity;
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills;
  • Excellent analysis and summarization skills;
  • Sound judgment and high-caliber legal reasoning;
  • Integrity, rigor and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated abilities in strategy development;
  • Expert sense of interpersonal relationships;
  • Ability to develop trusted connections with clients and other external partners, when applicable, with other partners, other lawyers and all levels of firm staff;
  • Collaborative team spirit;
  • Bilingualism in oral and written English and French.
